This was our guide's first tour -- and he was a last minute replacement. Despite these challenging circumstances, his enthusiasm and knowledge gave us a taste of the real San Jose in a few short hours.
A nice tour of San Jose. It was nice to have a small group tour of the city and the museums. We had plenty of time to see all of the museums. I was a little concerned initially that we might be rushed through huge museums Fortunately, the museums are not huge and could easily be seen in an afternoon. The guide provided local insight and was able to answer questions. Her English was excellent. We also got a nice lunch that was what a Tico might eat at an off the beaten path coffee house. All in all, a nice tour and a nice half day.
We booked the San Jose Evening Tour with Dinner in Escazú for our group of six. Jurgen and Marion from San Jose Urban Adventures did a marvellous job with showing us their city. Both were raised in San Jose and had such pride in their city and culture and were very professional. They both spoke exceptional english and the evening was so informative. Walking the city to visit each site was such a personal way to explore. We loved visiting the Central Market. They spoke of the vendors, the products provided, and their memories of going there as children. Their collective knowledge of the history of the city was outstanding. We finished with dinner and were sad to say goodbye to our guides. The only thing that was not quite up to expectations was the dinner. We had hoped to taste some traditional Costa Rican food but the menu selections did not provide that. It also did say that there would be a wine pairing, however, Sangria was suggested and others had beer. The Sangria was excellent, however, we did miss the wine pairing. This last issue was definitely not the fault of Jurgen or Marion and did not diminish our overall satisfaction with the entire tour.
