Raised in Bryan, Texas, Pawan moved to India in 2008 and opened Rasa Retreat along with his team in 2014. Over the years, Team Rasa, has come to be known for it's tailored Yoga beach escape with guests from world over. With their focus on ensuring exceptional customer service and unique experiences for their guests, Pawan & Team pride themselves for providing security for all, especially female, solo travelers, who are 70% of their visitors.
I can't say enough good things about my entire Rasa Retreat vacation. Pawan and the entire team are an amazing group, so generous, kind, and warm. I always felt safe and relaxed, we had a great time on all of the excursions, or even relaxing at the house and pool. Beaches were beautiful, yoga was tailored to each person's ability (we learned to do headstands safely in 4 days!!), massages were so relaxing, and we ate like royalty with a variety of delicious ethnic foods! I was able to experience a part of India in such a beautiful way and learned a lot from our hosts. I can't wait to see all of my new friends in India again!
I couldn't say enough nice things about this whole experience. Pawan was absolutely the best in organizing and planning the entire stay. There were little touches throughout that made you feel like you were in your home away from home. The excursions were well thought out and executed perfectly. Not only did we feel a connection with Pawan but we also made new friends while we were there. Please Please Please, if you are considering a trip to yoga trip to India, look no further, this is where you want to be.

Wonderful food, great hospitality, interesting excursions, good company, incredible attention to detail. Pawan and his team plan and execute the trips, the meals, the yoga, the whole experience with skill and style. I had a great week. I enjoyed my large and comfortable room; was able to combine privacy with sociability, to go off exploring beach and village on a bike and spend time drinking delicious local red wine with a lovely group from all over the world. What's not to like?!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe for solo, female travelers to visit Goa/India?
Rasa Retreat strive to provide a safe and secure experience for all our guests. Majority of the guests are female and where Rasa Retreat prides themselves for providing a fully secure, comfortable experience especially for them. One of our team members is always with our guests whether on excursions or on the beach or just around.
During the months of June-August, will it rain continuously?
While June-August are the wettest months across India with the arrival on Monsoon, it doesn't continuously rain; though it will rain at least one time each day. There usually are breaks in the rain allowing for outdoor activities such as bicycle rides through the villages and strolls on the beach. Umbrellas are provided and it is advisable to bring rain gear while visiting. The monsoon soaked fields and trees make for a rich experience to help nourish one's soul as one takes it all in.
What is the concern for Malaria/mosquitoes?
While there is a negligible chance for malaria and other mosquito borne disease, it is advised guests to bring their favorite repellent - the operator does provide ample DEET-free repellent for our guests and constantly request quests to apply repellent as a preventive measure especially while going out be it morning, day, or evening/night. Most guests do not take the Malaria course - guests decide if they feel the need to after consulting their physician.
What are some of the indoor activities one can participate in?
From learning to play Carom (an Indian board game) to cards to charades, trivial pursuit, pictionary and in-house Bollywood dance party, guests can opt to participate or simply curl up on the couch or in their private room reading a book for our library.
What are some activities during clear days/breaks in the monsoon?
While it will mostly be overcast during the months of June-August, guests can enjoy lounging by the pool when it isn't raining. One can also take a bicycle ride in the neighborhood or walk through the neighboring paddy fields. Our excursions are planned through the stay regardless of rain. The hikes are a lot more fun when it rains; however, Rasa Retreat strives to have these on days when the forecast is mostly clear. Long drives to take pictures are also a fun way for guests to pass time and see more of the area.
What is the food like?
The menu is catered to the guests. While most guests prefer simple, home cooked Indian meals, there is a variety of other cuisines including Thai, Burmese, Italian, Tex-Mex, and Healthy Soup-Salads-Wraps. The spice level is adjusted for Indian meals based on guest preferences and spice tolerance. Some of the times there is "Make Your Own Pizza" night for a break. Desserts are prepared daily and served with each meal for guests to enjoy.

Many of our guests are beginners and our instructors cater the group sessions per the group dynamics as well as focusing individual Yoga fitness level. Each guest meets the instructor before the first class in order for the sessions for the week to be designed to meet each individual's need. There are times when accompanying spouses not interested in Yoga visit - there is no compulsion to attend and/or participate in the Yoga classes.
