This is not an easy climb; it is recommended that you are in good physical condition, able to hike for a couple consistent days without problem.
You need to bring your own "sleeping system" (sleeping bag, pad), trekking poles, head lamp, eating utensils, personal clothing system/layers (outer layer shells, puffy jacket, socks, long johns, etc), snacks, backpack, boots, camera, etc (detailed packing list will be emailed upon registration completion). Rare Earth Adventures has some items for rent, and many other resources within their reach, so please let them know if you have any gear needs or questions!
You will want a warm layering system, NO COTTON, long johns, mid layer fleece/wool sweater/pants, and a waterproof outer layer/shell, if you get cold easy you may also want an extra mid-layer for nighttime.
You will want a sturdy, waterproof boot that is crampon compatible; mountaineering boots are highly recommended.
We recommend high protein snacks, such as power bars, beef jerky, energy goos etc.
This trip will depart whether rain, shine or snow. Conditions will be assessed before attempting the summit.
Rare Earth Adventures has good relationships with several local gear shops in town and can get you discounts if they can't provide all the necessary gear.
You many want extra money for snacks and coffee on the van ride to and from the trailhead. You may also wish to bring cash as a gratuity for your guides' professionalism and care.
Rare Earth Adventures will be providing lightweight, freeze-dried mountaineering meals for dinner, granola and oatmeal for breakfast, and lunch will be salami and/or peanut butter and honey sandwiches. We recommend bringing additional snacks.
You can carry your own tent if you wish to sleep alone, otherwise, you will be sharing a tent with 1 to 2 other climbers.
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for all trips. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement if you are forced to cancel your trip for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to cover medical help, emergency transport, and/or theft or accidental damage while traveling. For travel insurance recommendations, please email us.
You may cancel reservations up to 72 hours after a booking is made. After that time period, all cancellations/modifications will be granted at the sole discretion of the operator. Cancellation processing fees may apply.
